Senior Design Engineer - Robotics / Gearbox / Start Up

We are currently partnered with a well funded and rapidly growing deep tech robotics start up driving innovation at the forefront of the robotics revolution. The team are looking to hire a Senior Design Engineer to be the architectural lead for the drivetrain systems powering the next generation of humanoids, robots, and wearable robotics.

This is a permanent position based onsite in Brussels.

Key Responsibilities for this Senior Design Engineer position:

• Architect backdrivable transmission systems tailored for sensitive human-robot interaction, setting new benchmarks for power density.
• Drive the entire lifecycle from a blank sheet of paper to field-ready systems, including 3D CAD modelling, prototyping, and industrialization.
• Act as a cornerstone of the engineering team, guiding junior designers and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Collaborate with leadership to shape the technology roadmap and influence the future of European robotics.

Key Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical or Electromechanical Engineering.
• 5–15 years of experience in gearbox design, gear geometry, actuator design, or servomotor integration.
• Expert proficiency in CAD (Inventor or similar) with a "first-principles" understanding of bearings, housings, and sealing for complex environments.
• A proven ability to own the entire product development cycle in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
